New to Ashtanga? Welcome!
Ashtanga Yoga is learned gradually, one breath, one posture, and one layer of understanding at a time. In the traditional Mysore method, each student receives individual guidance within a quiet group setting, allowing the practice to develop at a steady and personal pace. Because of the nature of this method, the most sincere and grounded way to begin is through a period of intentional learning and consistency, rather than a single introductory class.
How to Begin:
New students are encouraged to commit to about two months of steady practice before deciding whether this method is right for them.
What this looks like:
• We begin with a private introductory session.
This gives us time to talk, explore the fundamentals of the method, and determine an appropriate starting point for your physical practice.
• From there, we schedule a consistent weekly Mysore practice time for approximately 8 weeks.
During this period, we work together to build a strong foundation and gradually develop a self-practice.
• In this lineage, the deeper learning unfolds through the teacher–student relationship and the steady rhythm of showing up.
